Full time 100% (39 hours/week)
Salary from € 55.000 p.a. up to € 80.000 p.a.
(German public sector tariff, up to TVöD Bund 13/14 depending on qualifications)


starting as soon as possible and limited until 28th February 2024. This advertisement is subject to final approval of funds.


As a member of the BMBF-funded project “Global H2 potential atlas - sustainable locations in the world for the green hydrogen economy of tomorrow”, the researcher will carry out in-depth analysis of expected socio-economic effects of green hydrogen production and use in a select number of (especially developing) countries. The researcher will co-develop a research agenda with a large interdisciplinary and inter-institutional project team, conduct desk and field research, publish, and advise policymakers on the practical implementation of her/his research findings. In addition, she/he will contribute to DIE’s Green Economy research group.


Qualifications and requirements:

  • Master, or preferably PhD, with excellent grades in economics, social sciences or engineering, with proven ability to analyse social and political processes;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in science, technology and innovation research;
  • Ability to apply up-to-date research methodologies, either qualitative or quantitative or, preferably, mixed;
  • Very good written and spoken English skills; knowledge of German and any of the UN languages is an advantage;
  • Eagerness to work in an interdisciplinary team and good communication skills;
  • Willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with a tropical climate („Tropentauglichkeit“).
