Brazilian Platform on Voluntary Sustainability Standards
Brasília & São Paulo, 31.05.2017 until 02.06.2017
National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO), Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), Managing Global Governance (MGG)
Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) for an industry or product entail both opportunities and challenges for emerging economies. New national multi-stakeholder platforms on VSS in India (launched March 2016), Brazil and China (launched May and June 2017) reflect the increasingly proactive stance that business and government actors from these countries take up on the issue. DIE through its Managing Global Governance (MGG) programme has been involved in some of the processes leading up to national VSS platforms, partnering with key institutions in emerging economies as well as the UN Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS).
The launch workshops in Brasília and São Paulo brought together representatives from the Brazilian private and public sector, from companies, international organizations as well as from other emerging economies.
The detailed programme is available here.
MGG is implemented with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
During our events photos and/or videos may be taken which may be published in various media for the puposes of documentation and PR activities. You have the right at any time to point out to the photographer or videographer that you do not want to be photographed or filmed.
