To keep global development patterns within planetary boundaries requires a re-direction of modes and content of international cooperation. More than in the past, partners in the Global South must be placed in the driver’s seat of knowledge-based development as 1) identifying sustainability-related challenges related to the specific settings of localities, regions and nations, 2) generating feasible solutions and 3) implementing them have to go hand in hand to avoid unnecessary delays. The rationale of the workshop is that an insufficient reciprocal knowledge of the intervention logics and programs of the different organizations and their international partners hampers the mobilization of synergies. A focused exchange of information including research centers and universities in the specific field of capacity building for green innovation shall contribute to strengthening the common knowledge base. The workshop will focus mainly on two exemplary fields: Innovations for the energy transition, innovations for green city development.
