The German Institute for International and Security Affairs / Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) and the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) invited scientists as well as representatives from politics, business, administration and civil society to a confidential roundtable discussion on 17 September in Berlin. The topic: „Chances for success of the „Katowice Rulebook“ and the COP24”. The forum began with a report on the current state of climate negotiations in Bangkok including achievements and remaining sticking points.
During the roundtable debate afterwards, participants discussed questions on the conditions for success and the expectations of COP24, as well as the role of Germany and the EU in the remaining ten weeks before the World Climate Summit in Katowice at the end of 2018.
