The discussion on a post-2015 agenda to present a new framework following the Millenium Development Goals has gained momentum in the last few months - promoted by the Rio + 20 Conference in June and the implementation of the "Busan Partnership on Effective Development Cooperation". The issue at stake now is to draft a development agenda which meets current challenges and links development cooperation with the central questions of the future. There is broad agreement in the international community that a new post-2015 global development framework is necessary. However, the issue of its design is as yet entirely open.

Homi Kharas is a Senior Fellow and Deputy Director in the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. In that capacity he studies policies and trends influencing developing countries, including aid to poor countries, the emergence of the middle class, and global governance and the G20.

Jeffrey Lewis is the Senior Adviser and Head of the International Policy & Partnerships Group (IPPG) in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management (PREM) Network.   IPPG is responsible for analytic policy work in PREM areas of focus, including global economic issues and international aid response to MDG goals, and serves as the focal point for coordination with the IMF, collaboration with OECD, WTO, and UN economic agencies, and engagement with key shareholders.

Dirk Messner has been Director of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) since 2003, and since 2004 he has been a member (Vice-Chair since 2009) of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU), which advises Germany’s Federal Government. In 2005 he was appointed professor for Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He is also a member of the World Bank's Knowledge Advisory Commission.
