The UN's Global Compact on Refugees agreed upon in 2018 calls for an enhanced local integration of refugees in their countries of destination. Whether and how this works, will to a large part be decided in cities and municipalities of the Global South. This is where a majority of displaced persons are, moreoever area-specific policy interests and aims of loal actors determine modes and degrees of refugees' integration.
