Sustainable economic development in Afrika
The debate on economic development in Sub-Saharan Africa no longer focuses only on quantitative aspects, but increasingly considers qualitative aspects as well. Raising economic growth, productivity, and investment remains on the top of the policy agenda, but aspects of sustainability have significantly gained in importance. In the development community it is now consensus that economic development has to be sustainable.
Online Tool: TREND analytics
TREND analytics is an unique online tool offering its users a birds’ eye perspective of 300 environmental provisions in 630 preferential trade agreements that have been signed since 1945. At the same time political decision makers, researchers or civil society actors are enabled to zoom into the great diversity of this environmental provisions.

In December 2016, Germany took over the presidency of the G20. This places the G20 emerging countries in the hands of a country that would like to take on a special responsibility for the implementation of global sustainability targets (SDGs).
