German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) with new Department: Training

As of 1 January 2009 the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) has a new Department VI – Training. The Postgraduate Training Programme and the Global Governance School are assigned to this department. Head of the department is Thomas Fues who worked at DIE between 1980 and 1982 and as senior research fellow since 2004.

Development cooperation needs qualified junior professionals. The job market for development policy needs experts that know how domestic and foreign relations relate to each other and how this relationship is strategically set up. Therefore, the German Development Institute offers professional training for junior researchers in development policy.

In addition to the Postgraduate Training Programme, the German Development Institute offers Young Professionals from selected partner countries of Germany’s international cooperation the participation in the Global Governance School. The highly qualified participants work in governments, Ministries, Universities, policy-orientated Think Tanks or research institutions. This unique exchange and learning opportunity supports the creation of a sustainable, equitable and effective global governance architecture
