The German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) publishes four independent publication series. IDOS researchers publish their current research results in Discussion Papers, Policy Briefs and Studies. Visiting scholars and cooperation partners also have the opportunity to publish their research results in one of the IDOS series. Publications from the series Analysen und Stellungnahmen, Briefing Paper and Two-Pager / Zweiseiter, which will be discontinued in 2022, will continue to be available online. The fourth publication series is for opinion pieces: The Current Column regularly comments on the latest developments and issues in international development policy.
IDOS researchers also regularly publish their research results in peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed German and international journals and publication series of other research institutes and institutions as well as with renowned book publishers. In addition, they use blogs and online platforms of partner institutions to communicate the Institute's research and advisory activities to an interested public.

Insurance provides an opportunity to address ex-post climate risks. The relative flexibility and broader reach of mesoinsurance may tackle issues of accessibility and affordability of insurance for poor and vulnerable. Community-based organisations may be an appropriate vehicle for mesoinsurance.
Current policies are inconsistent with international climate goals. More, and more effective, actions by non-state and subnational actors, such as businesses, cities and NGOs, could accelerate low-carbon and climate resilient transitions. This paper explores how the EU could strengthen such action.
Imme Scholz, deputy director of the German Development Institute (Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik – DIE), was involved in the Delphi study as one of several experts (see box page 38). The mission was to identify global trends that will be important for development policy through to 2032. The study was conducted on behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ ). In our interview, Scholz talked about how development successes are linked to development cooperation. She also considered how these matters are perceived by policymakers and the general public.

We conducted a randomized control trial in order to assess the impacts of the Tingathe Economic Empowerment Project in Malawi. We find in particular that poor and labour-constrained households benefited from the project and that the provided training increased the productive use of the lump-sum.
