Kevin Watkins, the Executive Director of the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), gave a lecture about “Leaving no-one behind – an equity ‘stepping stone’ approach to the post-2015 agenda”.

Governments around the world are negotiating development goals for the post-2015 world. Equity has emerged as a central theme. There is a growing recognition that inequality acts as a brake on progress towards a wide range of development goals, including inclusive growth, poverty eradication and the expansion of opportunities for health and education. Yet there is no consensus on how to integrate equity into the post-2015 framework. The lecture by Kevin Watkins addressed this issue, outlined a range of possible approaches. Specific attention was given to the role of the European Union as a potential force for the promotion of more equitable approaches to development and development cooperation.
