Library and documentation
The library of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) has about 40,000 volumes, 150 periodicals and the most important German and English daily and weekly newspapers. In addition to standard references, the library maintains professional literature for each research and consultancy field of its research staff.
The DIE places great value in maintaining and evaluating national and international periodicals and the daily press according to the respective research topics while following the research and policy advice activities of the DIE and the rules of the German Information Network International Relations and Area Studies (Fachinformationsverbund Internationale Beziehungen und Länderkunde FIV-IBLK). To meet research, consulting and training requirements, up-to-date information on research findings and current opinion is thus readily available.
As a reference library the DIE library is open to the public. The indexing is part of the database "World Affairs Online” (WAO) and is searchable via the DIE-OPAC, the IREON portal, the Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog and the SWB Online Catalog. External book orders or the producing of paper copies cannot be accepted. For a fee of € 0.05 per page, users have the possibility to copy from books and magazines. Please mind the copyright.
