The Power of Cooperation: Shaping a Positive narrative of Global Governance in India
New Delhi, 28.04.2019 until 29.04.2019
German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and Quality Council of India (QCI)
In a polarised world, amid the global rise of nationalism and populism and with global governance and international dialogue at risk, one purpose of the MGG network is to create and hold open spaces of dialogue and international cooperation. The conference “The Power of Cooperation: Shaping a Positive Narrative of Global Governance” in New Delhi took place on the occasion of the national MGG alumni meeting in India 2019. It brought together the Indian participants of the MGG Academy (since 2007) and further invited guests. Participants discussed two main questions: First, how can multi-sectoral, transnational networks contribute to fair and open dialogue and communication in increasingly polarised settings? Second, how can they contribute to a positive narrative of (inter- and transnational) cooperation and global governance amid the rise of nationalism and populism? Topic and results of the conference will be taken up in further upcoming MGG alumni meetings. In this way, the MGG network aims at contributing to the shaping of a new positive narrative of international cooperation and global governance that is rooted in deep respect for diversity, mutual learning and shared responsibility for a just and sustainable development.
This conference was jointly organised by the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and the Quality Council of India (QCI) in the framework of the Managing Global Governance (MGG) programme with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
