The German Development Institute/Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) is collaborating with researchers from Purdue University (USA), Utrecht University (The Netherlands) and Glasgow Caledonian University (UK) to host two workshops for non-party stakeholders during the UNFCCC’s May negotiation session in Bonn with the aim to develop contributions documents for the Talanoa Dialogue. Workshop participants joined a climate negotiation simulation with a long time-horizon (2118), stepping into the shoes of diplomats representing different countries in the UNFCCC. Their negotiations and decisions focused on climate tipping points and global temperature goals to generate synergistic visions of “Where do we want to go?” and “How do we get there?” that have broad support among multiple stakeholder groups.
