We conducted a randomized control trial in order to assess the impacts of the Tingathe Economic Empowerment Project in Malawi. We find in particular that poor and labour-constrained households benefited from the project and that the provided training increased the productive use of the lump-sum.

Industrial policy-making in Morocco is became more systemic, values dialogue with private sector and competitiveness. Yet, hurdles remain, regarding monitoring and evaluation, inclusion and implementation. If these weaknesses are addressed industrial policy could contribute to a new social contract.

The G20 as an important institution of global governance faces a legitimacy deficit, that can partially be addressed by increasing its accountability. In this paper, we analyse the accountability mechanisms that are employed by the G20 and discuss the challenges that the 2030 Agenda poses to them.
What role do cultural values play in democracy support? Western donors promote liberal values in recipient countries as part of their governance programmes, but these may clash with local values and attitudes. We explore how (mis)matching values mediate the effectiveness of democracy support.
Corporate tax revenue and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) are two key development finance sources. This paper discusses potential trade-offs faced by developing countries, when mobilizing corporate tax revenue and FDI jointly, and provides policy recommendations how to address these trade-offs.
