Several overlapping crises are posing a risk to economic development and efforts to combat poverty, especially in sub-Saharan African countries, and, in the most extreme case, jeopardising the food security of millions of people. While the short term priority is to support these individuals, we cannot lose sight of the need for a long-term transformation towards greater sustainability in agricultural and food systems.
